Hey Peeps! This is part 1 of a 3 (or 4… or 82) part series on SOUL that I’ll be posting here on the bloggy. Because we’ve got soul coming up and out and in and through and all over the place these days. And sometimes it’s just hard to even know what to do with that, how to integrate SOUL with all its components, knowings, and needs into our daily lives. So, here we go…

* * *

Okay, so attempting to explain what soul is could count me as certifiably insane. (It wouldn’t be the first time, so bring it on!) I mean, how do you say the unsayable, hold the unholdable, write the unwriteable? What exactly is soul?

I could tell you in the answers to some of the questions I told you a few weeks ago that I don’t like answering. When peeps ask me things like what the hell I’m even doing these days, why I closed down my thriving music teaching studio, why I’ve taken a 2-year break from playing music in public, why I walked away from my 3,000-likes fan page on Facebook (certifiably insane) and even things like why I still don’t live with my boyfriend of 6 years, I could tell you in one word:

Soul.

Soul?

Yep. Soul. I work from the soulside out, basing my decisions firstly on soul.

Or, I could answer with a line from a song I wrote, “I’m forever pulled by things I can’t see.”

Or with one of my favorite StoryPeople stories: “If there is any secret to this life I live, this is it: the sound of what cannot be seen sings within everything that can. & there is nothing more to it than that.”

Basically, we could say soul is made up of the parts of us that don’t meet the eye, but rather are felt with the heart, through intuition, and through body signals. Soul is all the intangible stuff we know and feel to be true and real about ourselves but sometimes can only be expressed through things like silence, music, art, kisses, dances, poetry, tears, and things like that.

And soul can complicate things sometimes. Boy oh boy can it complicate things! I mean, just try manifesting something you think you really want when it doesn’t truly line up with your soul’s desire. (Ha! Not a chance.) Or try following well-worn cultural paths when your soul has a different plan. And let’s not even start with relationships! Soul REALLY has its way with those things. I mean, just try breaking up with someone you still have soul business with. Or better yet, try making a relationship work based on appearances and an almighty check-list rather than a deeper soul match!

(If you can and do succeed at the aforementioned things, then you are probably not ready for “Living with Soul.” Then maybe my blog might not be the one for you. Just sayin’.)

But if you’ve tried and failed enough to know you have no other choice, if all roads have led you back to you, if you know soul is speaking to you, complicating things, and begging for your attention. If you know things aren’t always what they seem, then you’re in the right place. Let’s dig in!  :)

So, how can we tune into soul and live our soul’s truest path and still make things work here in the physical world? (It can be a real bitch sometimes!) How can we merge our inner and outer worlds together achieving balance and peace with this thing? Well, it takes a great deal of practice, negotiation, and finesse, but yes, you can do it.

And that’s why I am here. I’m your resident Soul Advocate, Soul Seer, Soul Writer, Soul Singer, Soul Soul All Things Soul. I’m good at this stuff not only because I’ve HAD to be, but also because it’s part of MY soul purpose to be. I have gifts in this regards, peeps. And honestly, at this point, I’m more than happy to share them and be of service to you in the soul department.

So, here we go. Soul or bust! Watch for “Living with Soul” parts 2 and 3 (and maybe all the way to 82 ;) ) in the coming weeks. I’ll be talking more about how to tune into the specific language of YOUR soul, how to navigate the more complicated soul territory, and other good stuff like that.

Sigh. I just love you. Thanks for being here.
